Sir,
I am
(RFGE 17 JUL 13 ¦
M.
directed by the Postmaster General to refer to your letter of the 26th of last month. No. 19770/1913, respecting the Fritish Post Office buildings at Shanghai and the furniture of the British Postal Agencies in China,
In reply I am to inform you that the Postmaster General hopes to find himself in a position to formulate proposals satisfactory to all parties concerned, under
which, if accepted, the Government of Hong Kong will. subject to suitable financial arrangements, resume the control of the Pritish Postal Agencies so long as such A gencies are maintained.
In
these circumstances it appears to the Postmaster General to be inexpedient to proceed at present with the question of purchase of the buildings at Shanghai and of the fittings at that and other Agencies.
I am,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
Eifrabb
nder Secretary of State,
COLONIAT, OFFICE.
